We’re hiring a Digital Designer

An exciting and permanent role in our studio in Reading, Berkshire. £35,000 – £40,000 dependent on experience

We’re looking for an experienced Digital Designer for this varied and challenging role. Its perfect if you want to be part of a small, ambitious and tight-knit team as you’ll play a key part in improving the quality of our design and creativity. You’re design, not code-led as all projects must work for users as well as be on-brand for our clients.

You’ll be part of a small, experienced team to plan and design exceptional user experiences and customer journeys. This will include the design of elegant responsive websites, landing pages, emails and banners as well a range of digital content, that can be used as part of integrated on and offline marketing campaigns, branded events or service experiences.

Your essential skills and experience

  • An excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and demonstrable passion for creating great user experiences/user interfaces (UX/UI), as well as an excellent eye for design, typography and detail.
  • Proficient in WordPress and a basic knowledge of HTML & CSS would be useful
  • Have detailed knowledge of responsive design principles as well as understand intuitive functionality, interaction, user interfaces and information architecture.
  • You have excellent verbal, face-to-face and written communication skills as you will be expected to present your concepts to clients where necessary and also be able to talk knowledgeably and confidently.
  • You’re not too proud to create email template designs for clunky tools like PowerPoint or Mailchimp when required by clients. Don’t worry, we use a specialist to build and test the templates before using them.
  • You’ll be expected to look after small briefs on your own initiative.
  • You are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the latest trends in digital design, how they’re evolving and how they can be successfully applied to clients’ digital projects. You’re unrelentingly curious about all new, emerging and relevant technologies that can be used to improve a service, digital or brand experience, making it easier, faster and less costly for people to communicate.

What will you be doing?

  • You’ll be an advocate of user centred design, wire-framing, prototyping and user testing. By using your design skills and experience you’ll be able to transform complex tasks into intuitive, accessible and easy to use website applications. Translating a brief to creative results quickly, by working collaboratively with our creative and client management team.
  • A demonstration to continual learning and improvement.
  • A knowledge of creating animations and infographics. 

Your responsibilities

  • Translate clients’ company positioning, including our own research findings as well as offline/online marketing strategies into effective designs.
  • Design and build on-brand, on-strategy creative for responsive websites, web pages, email templates, social media graphics and banner ads.
  • Create and then translate wireframes into simple, easy-to-use User Interfaces.
  • Ensure consistency and integrity of your creative vision and aesthetics are aligned with usability, accessibility and web standards and create compelling, appropriate campaigns and designs consistently across all touch points.

Your experience and qualifications

  • Degree in digital design, graphic design, graphic communications or related field.
  • 5 – 10 years successful professional design experience, preferably at a digital agency with a strong portfolio of design work, showing solutions to business problems through effective design.
  • Able to present concepts and lead a team to the correct solution.
  • Experience in web marketing  knowledge of HTML, Photoshop, FTP, web design and development principles.
  • Professional and collaborative work ethic with personal accountability, excellent attention to detail, backed up by strong time management and interpersonal skills.
